Sarah Jerath
“A journey with clay”

December 2021

As a child, Sarah Jerath lived in a house on a sandstone quarry hill in Lancashire. She still lives in the area and her work arises from the curiosity of natural materials found along the streams and banks up the hill. Always very close to the natural environment and the elemental, as her ceramic work develops more and more into an art form, more conscious expressions of clay arise, with raw, organic forms that are inspired by ancient primitive pottery and sometimes include fossil clays.

A collection of earthen, richly textured vessels, reflecting Sarah’s closeness to nature and the journey of humanity with clay.
