Dorothée Loriquet

Born in Paris in 1962, Dorothée Loriquet initially pursued a musical career, studying the cello at the Conservatoire, before turning to ceramics in the early 2000s. Deeply informed by movement, her sculptural practice explores the relationship between solid and void, material and space. Built using the coiling technique, her biomorphic sculptures unfold through curves, twists and spirals, creating a complex interplay of balance and tension. Empty space is essential to her work, giving the clay a sense of movement and lightness. Some sculptures can be displayed in different positions, revealing multiple perspectives on the same work. Her work has been selected for international ceramics exhibitions and competitions, including those in Faenza and Vallauris.
